Learn about safe & efficient poultry processing for on-farm exempt processing (fewer than 1,000 birds), from the farm to the freezer. Meet us at Fairview Lodge in Story City for an afternoon workshop with local farmers, certifiers, and butchers. On Saturday, Mar. 17 in Story City, Ty and Bobbie Gustafson of Story City Locker will review safe, small-scale, butchering procedures you can implement on your farm. An organic certifier will answer questions about organic poultry requirements. After a classroom session we will travel to a nearby farm. We'll meet with Tom Watkins of Murray McMurray Hatchery to see a great processing set-up. This event is free. Please RSVP.
