This week the Rising Star Interns visited the Oakland Mills Berry Farm located south of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Oakland Mills is a strawberry farm that allows customers to hand pick their own strawberries. The interns, Thomata, Kaity, and Bre, hand-picked two pounds of fresh strawberries to use as an ingredient for fresh fruit salsa.

The fruit salsa recipe was adopted from the Spend Smart. Eat Smart. website. Spend Smart. Eat Smart. contains valuable information on planning, shopping, and cooking nutritious and budget-friendly meals. The fruit salsa can be paired with whole grain cinnamon chips. The interns created a step by step cooking video for the fruit salsa using fresh ingredients as well as the whole grain cinnamon chips.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the video. It will be available soon!
